Abstract
► We examined changes in GABA signaling in the embryonic mouse spinal cord. ► We found the distinct development of GABA neurons in ventral and dorsal horns. ► GABA may be excitatory for several days before the formation of synapses. ► There was a ventral-to-dorsal gradient in the development of GABA signaling. ► GABA signaling continued to develop after birth.
