Abstract
⺠We review the excellent regenerative capacity of the spinal cord in adult teleost fish. ⺠We compare this capacity between the different classes of regeneration-competent vertebrates. ⺠We cover morphological, cellular, molecular, and functional aspects of spinal cord regeneration. ⺠We discuss the relevance of these findings for overcoming the limits of spinal cord repair in mammals.
