Abstract
⺠Model for the initiation, maintenance and modulation of acute neuroinflammation due to direct exposure of bacterial antigens. ⺠Localized and dose dependent influx of systemic immunocompetent cells into the brain with opening of the blood-brain barrier. ⺠Well-ordered and reproducible time course of initiated cerebral inflammatory response. ⺠No collateral tissue damage. ⺠Simple, easy reproducible experimental design, well tolerated by experimental animals.
