Abstract
⺠Postnatal hippocampal cultures respond to OGD in a similar manner as HOTC. ⺠In mixed culture, OGD leads to death of neurons but not astrocytes. ⺠Neuronal enriched cultures are more sensitive to OGD than neurons in mixed cultures. ⺠Primary astrocyte-enriched cultures are less affected by OGD. ⺠Astrocytes may be neuroprotective following ischemia.
