Abstract
ⶠPlasma neurofilament (Nf) levels may be a biomarker of neurodegenerative disease. ⶠNf aggregates cause a 'hook effect' that prevents accurate quantification by ELISA. ⶠA new method to dissolve Nf aggregates and abolish the hook effect was developed. ⶠThe method is sensitive, accurate and reproducible. ⶠDetects pathological increases in Nf levels in plasma of mSOD1 mice that model ALS.
