Abstract
ⶠA novel multi-limb acquisition of MEP in rats demonstrated that Isoflurane (gas) anesthesia severely suppresses MEP; while Ketamine (IP) anesthesia may not. ⶠA comparison of two existing modes of stimulation showed that low frequency stimulation of motor cortex invokes more reliable and less variable MEP. ⶠThe novel set-up can be an important tool in development of rat models of nervous system injuries such as spinal cord injury, brain injury, multiple sclerosis etc.
