Abstract
By using immunohistochemistry combined with confocal and electron microscopy, the authors demonstrate P2X4 purinergic receptor expression on horizontal, amacrine and ganglion cells, and on macroglia and microglia in the mouse retina. This suggests a role for P2X4-R in the modulation of neuronal and glial signaling and tissue homeostasis in the retina.98
