GABAB receptors as a common target for hypothermia and spike and wave seizures: Intersecting mechanisms of thermoregulation and absence epilepsy

Abstract

âº PTZ and GHB induced both absence seizures and mild hypothermia. âº Drug-free deep cooling induced frequent SWD and accompanied behavioral correlates. âº A selective GABAB antagonists prevented both the hypothermia and SWD. âº GABAB receptors connect the thermoregulation and absence epileptogenecity. âº The role of the preoptic hypothalamic nuclei in absence epilepsy has to be reconsidered.
