Abstract
⺠Intranasal (IN) infusion can deliver NPY to brain without changing plasma levels. ⺠IN NPY reduced PTSD-like behavior induced by single prolonged stress (SPS). ⺠IN NPY attenuated SPS-induced activation of HPA axis and TH mRNA in locus coeruleus. ⺠IN NPY prevented single prolonged stress-triggered rise of GR in the hippocampus. ⺠IN NPY has potential as treatment against harmful effects of traumatic stress.
