Abstract
⺠Three bouton types differ in size and mitochondrial content. ⺠Large excitatory boutons are confined to the inferior colliculus (IC) central nucleus. ⺠Medium and small excitatory boutons occur throughout the IC. ⺠All three bouton types contact GABAergic and non-GABAergic IC cells.
