Abstract
⺠Human oligodendroglioma Hs683 cells have no EAAT-dependent amino acid transport. ⺠Valproic acid (VPA, 1 mM) induces high-affinity aspartate transport in Hs683 cells. ⺠Transport stimulation is due to increased SLC1A1 mRNA and EAAT3 protein. ⺠VPA treatment also induces the early pre-oligodendrocytic marker PDGFRA. ⺠Trichostatin A mimics VPA effects, pointing to the epigenetic regulation of SLC1A1.
