Abstract

âº Age-related relationships between energy metabolism of cerebral cortex and HPA were studied. âº Different mitochondrial subpopulations were purified and characterised by enzyme kinetics. âº At 4-6Â months oxidative metabolism is less favoured in HPT and HYPH with respect to CTX. âº During ageing oxidative metabolism increases in HPT and HYPH with respect to CTX. âº HPA is likely characterised by an “eumetabolomic energy state” during ageing.
