Abstract
⺠Age-related relationships between energy metabolism of cerebral cortex and HPA were studied. ⺠Different mitochondrial subpopulations were purified and characterised by enzyme kinetics. ⺠At 4-6 months oxidative metabolism is less favoured in HPT and HYPH with respect to CTX. ⺠During ageing oxidative metabolism increases in HPT and HYPH with respect to CTX. ⺠HPA is likely characterised by an “eumetabolomic energy state” during ageing.
