Abstract
► Chronic electrodes were implanted in the spinal cord and medulla of neuropathic rats. ► Spinal or dorsal column nuclei stimulation inhibits neuropathic manifestations. ► In rats with intact spinal cord they activate common spinal and supraspinal circuits. ► Chronic dorsal column lesion impairs equally both types of stimulation. ► Different transmitters are involved in the spinal and supraspinal mode of activation.
