Abstract
► MPTP triggers three phases of gene expression changes. ► Paraquat elicits expression changes of different genes to MPTP. ► Repeated exposure to MPTP leads to refractoriness of late but not acute mRNA changes. ► Pre-exposure to paraquat does not lead to transcriptional refractoriness to MPTP. ► DA depletion may underlie MPTP-induced transcriptional refractoriness.
