Cell type-specific localization of optineurin in the striatal neurons of mice: implications for neuronal vulnerability in Huntington's disease

▶Immunohistochemical distribution of optineurin in the mouse striatum was studied. ▶Optineurin was abundantly expressed in the striatal interneurons. ▶By contrast, low levels of optineurin were found in the striatal projection neurons. ▶Thus, a cell type-specific localization of optineurin was found in the striatum. ▶Our findings are important in considering striatal pathology of Huntington's disease.
