Abstract
â¶We tested the role of CC chemokine receptor 5 (CCR5) in social behavior and memory. â¶Ccr5â/â mice had better social and olfactory recognition than wild-type (Wt) mice. â¶Administration of CCL3, a ligand for CCR5, impaired social recognition in Wt mice. â¶Spatial and fear conditioning memory were comparable in Wt and Ccr5â/â mice. â¶NMDA-receptor 1 expression was higher in the hippocampi of Ccr5â/â than Wt mice.
