Abstract
â¶D5Rs are present on all parts of the rat hippocampal pyramidal neuron, but are concentrated at synaptic membranes on a subpopulation of dendritic spines. â¶The widespread distribution of the D5R enables dopamine to potentially affect inhibitory but to a greater extent excitatory signalling. â¶The D5R densities were similar in stratum oriens and stratum radiatum. â¶Therefore, the D5R can modulate signals in both the apical and basal dendrite of the pyramidal cell.
