Abstract
▶KO mice with Cav2.1 calcium channels ablated show reduced inhibitory glycinergic release at the lateral superior olive. ▶Cav2.1 KO mice over expressed L-type and N-type Ca2+ channels to compensate for the absence of P/Q-type Ca2+ channels. ▶Short term depression of IPSCs during repetitive high frequency stimulation was stronger, while recovery results much slower in KO compared to WT mice. ▶Pair pulse facilitation of IPSCs remained unchanged in KO mice.
