Abstract
â¶Neural population responses were obtained for temporally modulated sound stimuli. â¶Evoked responses were compared between young and aged F-344 rats. â¶Modulation detection thresholds were elevated in aged animals for AM and FM sounds. â¶Age-related declines were observed at intermediate but not large modulation depths. â¶Aged animals showed decreased fidelity in encoding stimulus envelope shapes.
