Abstract
â¶Nucleus of the solitary tract (NTS) differentially innervates ventrolateral medulla. â¶Caudomedial NTS innervates the retrotrapezoid nucleus and ventral respiratory group. â¶Caudomedial NTS does not innervate the Bötzinger and preBötzinger complexes. â¶Lateral NTS nuclei innervate the entire ventral medullary cardiorespiratory column. â¶Lateral NTS nuclei are heterogeneous in their ventrolateral medullary targets.120
