Morphological and electrophysiological properties of pyramidal-like neurons in the stratum oriens of Cornu ammonis 1 and Cornu ammonis 2 area of Proechimys

▶Pyramidal-like neurons were found in the stratum oriens from CA2 until CA1 area of Proechimys. ▶These neurons received synaptic inputs from hippocampal networks. ▶Large pyramidal-like neurons express markers of pyramidal neurons. ▶The newly identified neurons exhibited distinct electrophysiological properties.
