Abstract
► The proliferation and differentiation of BMSCs from mdx mice were lower than that of C57BL mice. ► Von Kossa staining of the skeletal muscle confirmed the presence of calcium deposits. ► Low osteogenic ability of BMSCs and pathological ectopic calcium deposition both are related to low bone mass with DMD. ► Myogenic genes of BMSCs and skeletal muscle from mdx mice were down-regulated.
