Lateral hypothalamic area mediated the protective effects of microinjection of glutamate into interpositus nucleus on gastric ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats

► Glutamate into interpositus nucleus protect against gastric mucosal damage. ► Interpositus nucleus mediates gastric mucosal damage via GABA neural pathway. ► LHA as an important area, exerting protective effects on gastric mucosal damage. ► Greater splanchnic nerve may involve in the process by decreasing nerve discharge. ► Our findings improve the understanding to the functions of interpositus nucleus.
