Abstract
⺠We studied long-term hippocampal glial activation in a pilocarpine rat model. ⺠A epileptogenic dose and its fractions were applied. ⺠Morphology and density of astrocytes and microglia were evaluated at 2, 4, 8 weeks. ⺠Astrocyte peak-hypertrophy and trough-density values correlated to epileptogenesis. ⺠Data indicate glial resilience loss plays a key role in delayed epileptogenesis.
