Abstract
► We investigated whether stroke survivals use additional sensory information to reduce postural sway. ► Postural sway was assessed while participants lightly touched an external surface during standing. ► Participants touched the bar with their ipsilesional or contralesional index fingertip. ► Stroke individuals showed greater postural sway than healthy individuals and reduced it with the touch. ► The reduction was observed regardless of the side of the touch and the variability of the applied force.
