Abstract
⺠Postconditioning by mild hypobaric hypoxia improves recovery from injurious hypoxia. ⺠Hypoxic postconditioning increases the viability of the vulnerable brain neurons. ⺠Delayed postconditioning has potent anxiolytic and antidepressant-like action. ⺠Hormone-dependent adaptive processes contribute to the mechanisms of postconditioning.
