Abstract
⺠Olfactory xenobiotic transporters are involved in detoxification and physiology of olfaction. ⺠Xenobiotic transporters are similarly expressed in olfactory epithelium and olfactory bulb. ⺠An opposite expression pattern of transporters is observed between olfactory tissues and liver. ⺠The transporters MRP3 and MRP5 are expressed in rat olfactory epithelium and localized in neurons. ⺠Olfactory transporters localization and function may be strongly linked.
