Abstract
► Olfactory xenobiotic transporters are involved in detoxification and physiology of olfaction. ► Xenobiotic transporters are similarly expressed in olfactory epithelium and olfactory bulb. ► An opposite expression pattern of transporters is observed between olfactory tissues and liver. ► The transporters MRP3 and MRP5 are expressed in rat olfactory epithelium and localized in neurons. ► Olfactory transporters localization and function may be strongly linked.
