Abstract
⺠We determine that cutaneous NGF is upregulated in a rat model of type 1 diabetes. ⺠We examine the phenotype of the remaining intraepidermal nerve fibres in the small fibre neuropathy. ⺠A higher proportion of trkA fibres express CGRP in the diabetic skin. ⺠This may be important in the development of neuropathic pain.
