Abstract
⺠Viewing red (relative to blue or gray) prior to a strength test inhibited the rate of force development. ⺠The color manipulation did not influence the peak amplitude of force production. ⺠The influence of color on motor output took place outside of participants' conscious awareness. ⺠All results were obtained using carefully controlled hues equated on lightness and chroma.
