Abstract
► Neonatal hypoxia caused increased total 5-HT and 5-HT2A receptor expression in corpus striatum. ► The expression of transcription factor HIF1 was up regulated in hypoxic condition. ► Glucose resuscitation, alone and with oxygen, reversed the serotonergic and HIF1 alterations. ► Common clinical practice of 100% oxygen or epinephrine upset the serotonergic system. ► This highlights the importance of glucose supplementation in neonatal care to hypoxia.
