Abstract
⺠Effects of reproductive experience on amphetamine sensitization were tested. ⺠Primiparous and nulliparous female rats were treated with 0, 1, or 5 mg/kg amphetamine for 5 days. ⺠Animals were treated with amphetamine (1 or 5 mg/kg) or saline for 5 consecutive days. ⺠All animals were challenged with low-dose amphetamine after 10 days of withdrawal. ⺠High-dose amphetamine treatment increased response to challenge in primiparous rats. ⺠Increased amphetamine sensitization may be a consequence of reproductive experience.
