In vitro production of an active neurotrophic factor, neuregulin-1: Qualitative comparison of different cell-free translation systems

► We examined the three cell-free translation systems for neuregulin-1 synthesis. ► We obtained active neuregulin-1 (19 pmol/mL) only in the reticulocyte lysate. ► This system produces the protein in a single tube within 2-3 h. ► Reticulocyte lysate is useful for rapid production of active neurotrophic factors.
