Abstract
⺠We studied a role of metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs) in the auditory system. ⺠Group I and II mGluRs modulate neuronal firing in inferior colliculus neurons. ⺠mGluRs play a key role in long-term suppression of neuronal activity evoked by sound. ⺠mGluRs may contribute to the phenomenon of residual inhibition of tinnitus.
