Abstract
► Copper-treatment increases the specific GSH content in cultured astrocytes. ► A sevenfold elevated copper content does not cause oxidative stress. ► Accelerated GSH export is a consequence of the elevated cellular GSH in copper-treated astrocytes. ► Mrp1 mediates the GSH export from copper-treated astrocytes. ► GSH export from astrocytes depends strongly on the temperature.
