Abstract
▶ Pseudowords orthographically similar to color words generated behavioral Stroop effects. ▶ Incongruent pseudowords orthographically similar to color words elicited an N450 in the ERP data. ▶ Participants distinguished pseudowords from color words well in a visual judgment task. ▶ Pseudowords orthographically similar to color words can activate the meaning of color words. ▶ Orthography plays an important role in activating meaning of Chinese single-character words.
