Abstract
ⶠTransient brain ischemia initiates a prolonged increase in neurogenesis up to 6 months in the rat dentate gyrus. ⶠMore newly generated neuroblasts differentiated into mature DG granule cells and most of these granule cells survived at least 6 months in the ipsilateral DG. ⶠMore neuroblasts are generated and differentiated into mature granule cells in the ipsilateral DG after longer recovery from ischemia.
