Abstract
ⶠLipoic acid decreased infarct size in an in vivo rodent model of stroke. ⶠLipoic acid significantly delayed the onset of anoxic depolarization in vitro. ⶠLipoic acid significantly prolonged the time course of anoxic depolarization. ⶠLipoic acid attenuated the glutamate-induced increase in intracellular calcium. ⶠLipoic acid-induced neuroprotection may involve modulating calcium homeostasis.
