Abstract
⺠We review population-wide distributions of neural activity across cortex. ⺠We mostly focus on data from animals involved in perceptual decision-making tasks. ⺠We study spontaneous, sensory, delay, and motor neural activity during these tasks. ⺠Distributions of firing rates are consistently long-tailed, across all cortex. ⺠We also review distributions of other features of activity: tuning, dynamics, etc.
