Abstract
⺠After peripheral nerve injury, neurons and Schwann cells switch to pro-regenerative state. ⺠Quality of reinnervation more than quantity determines functional recovery. ⺠Interactions of growth cone, extracellular matrix and Schwann cells are fundamental. ⺠Trophic and tropic support for motor and sensory axon regeneration.
