Abstract
⺠Phase locking to the fine structure of narrowband stimuli is not degraded in quiet. ⺠Degraded phase locking to fine structure emerges in background noise. ⺠Envelope coding is enhanced following cochlear hearing loss. ⺠Loss of tonotopicity has a significant effect on the temporal coding of broadband stimuli. ⺠Across-fiber temporal coding is degraded following sensorineural hearing loss.
