Abstract
⺠Monkeys performed a delayed-matching memory task for sounds. ⺠Matching errors were predicted by acoustic similarity between sample and test sounds. ⺠Errors were more strongly predicted by spectral similarity than by temporal similarity. ⺠An intervening sound between the sample and test reduced the similarity effect. ⺠Short-term auditory memory in monkeys depends on a fragile sensory trace.
