Abstract
⺠An entirely new mode of auditory stimulation, soft tissue conduction (STC), has been described. ⺠Tones presented by STC mutually cancel tones presented by air- and by bone conduction at proper phase relations between them. ⺠The phase relations between such tones differ across subjects. ⺠Tones presented to 2 different STC sites can also cancel each other. ⺠Neck muscle manipulations lead to changes in the phase difference for cancellation.
