Abstract
⺠Polyethylene-degrading strain of the actinomycete Rhodococcus ruber showed laccase activity. ⺠This strain was found capable of reducing the molecular weight of polyethylene. ⺠Copper affected the activity and induction of laccase, leading to increase the biodegradation. ⺠Biodegradation of polyethylene further demonstrated by the oxidation of the polymer.
