Abstract
⺠FCM was used to study the viability, growth and metabolic activity of fungal spores. ⺠Gamma radiation effects on viability and metabolic activity were assessed using PI and DHE dyes. ⺠We describe a culture-independent and fast method for the assessment of spore viability. ⺠Fluorescence intensity of PI in unviable spores was 5-7à higher than in viable spores. ⺠DHE fluorescence was associated with a faster growth and higher metabolic activity.
