Functional roles of mannose-binding protein in the adhesion, cytotoxicity and phagocytosis of Acanthamoeba castellanii

► EMS and mannose-selection were applied to Acanthamoeba castellanii and then to understand roles of a mannose-binding protein. ► Twenty cycles of the procedures were done and the amoebae were used for functional assays. ► Both EMS and Man mutants exhibited significantly decreased levels of MBP expression and cytotoxicity to the target cells.
