Abstract
⺠Paraoxonase-1 is an antiatherogenic enzyme by inhibiting lipid oxidation. ⺠The zoonotic nematode, Trichinella spiralis, infection decreases serum PON1 activity in rats. ⺠Also, T. spiralis infection induces an atherogenic lipid profile. ⺠These changes are associated with oxidative stress. ⺠Thus, nematode infection might have role in atherogenesis and insecticide metabolism.
