Abstract
⺠Trypanosoma brucei encodes a homolog of Escherichia coli AlkB, which repairs alkylation damage of DNA. ⺠TbABH belongs to the Fe(II) and alpha-ketoglutarate dioxygenase superfamily. ⺠TbABH binds DNA, with a preference for alkylated DNA. ⺠TbABH complements an E. coli alkB knockout.
