Abstract
► The biological behaviour of Trypanosoma cruzi isolates varied significantly in mice. ► The largest number of differences was observed between Amazonas and Paraná isolates. ► Low levels of parasitemia were observed for Amazonas isolates. ► The Paraná isolates presented longer patent periods and higher levels of parasitemia. ► There were correlations between biology of T. cruzi and the epidemiology of Chagas disease.
