Abstract
► Diagnostic techniques for detection of Trypanosoma evansi are compared in an experimental model. ► Parasitological techniques detected the parasite only in the acute phase of disease. ► Seroconvertion by iELISA beginning in the acute phase until final of the study. ► PCR detects the parasite in phases of low parasitemia. Increasing the concentration of DNA in PCR allowed the detection of the parasite. ► PCR showed the highest percentage of detection for T. evansi.
