Abstract
► Trypanosoma evansi is a hemoparasite of domestic and wild animals. ► Disease causes neurologic and locomotor signs in mammals. ► The nucleotides ATP, ADP and AMP are neurotransmitters and neuromodulators important. ► NTPDase and 5′-nucleotidase control the concentration of nucleotides. ► Infection by T. evansi in rats alters the activity of these enzymes in brain.
